Highnam Court Cricket Club members to fundraise by walking 107 miles in 4 days
The Challenge
The Highnam Court Strollers challenge to walk four back to back marathons and visit every cricket club in the Gloucester, Cheltenham and Forest of Dean West divisions in the 2023 season.
We are undertaking this challenge to raise funds for the Pied Piper Appeal and to help raise funds for a new club roller that will allow the club to keep operating in the future.
This challenge will see the strollers walk a total of 107 miles over 4 days (just over a marathon a day) visiting 17 different cricket clubs along the way. Walking from Highnam Court around Gloucester then out through the Forest of Dean to the Welsh border and back again.
There are currently 6 members of the strollers with other members joining for the odd day or a leg or two.
The Route
Day One – Highnam Court CC to Red Marley CC
Starting at Highnam Court and visiting Ullenwood Bharat before following the river up to Woodpeckers, across to Corse & Staunton and finishing at Red Marley.
Day Two – Red Marley CC to Ruardean CC
Starting off where we finished at Red Marley and strolling on to Dymock, Newent, Aston Ingham, Huntley and Cinderford before finishing off the day at Ruardean.
Day Three – Ruardean CC to Alvington and Woolaston CC
Day three sees the majority of the steep ups and downs as we leave Ruardean and head to Wales visiting Penallt and Redbrook, then returning to England to St. Briavels and finishing the day at Alvington and Woolaston.
Day 4 – Alvington and Woolaston CC to Highnam Court CC
Our last day we leave Alvington to climb to Lydney and Parkend before dropping down to Westbury-on-Severn then following the river back to Highnam Court. Where we hopefully will be welcomed by club members and anyone wishing to cheer us across the finish line for a well deserved drink.
